Worshiping at St. John's Church
Our corporate worship, accented by fine music and preaching and the active involvement of lay people in leadership roles, is the core of our parish life.
Our regular Sunday worship schedule includes four worship services. The 7:45 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 7:30 p.m. services are celebrations of Holy Eucharist. The 11:15 a.m. services alternate each week between Morning Prayer and Holy Eucharist. There is music at both the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. services. Children's Chapel, for children age 3 through 3rd grade, is held during part of the 9:00 a.m. service.
There are mid-week services of Holy Eucharist on Wednesday mornings at 10:30.
There is a Healing Service with Holy Eucharist on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 in the evening.
There are many opportunities for parishioners to be involved in leading worship:
Requiem by Camille Saint-Saëns
All Saints’ Sunday
November 6 at 7:30 p.m.
Requiem by Camille Saint-Saëns will be sung by the St. John’s Choir and a vocal solo quartet during the All Saints’ Sunday evening service of Holy Eucharist on Sunday, November 6. Violins, viola, harp and organ will provide the accompaniment for this devotional and entreating requiem.
Saint-Saëns was an impressionist composer (1835-1921). He was an acclaimed virtuoso pianist and was regarded by Franz Liszt “as the greatest organist in the world.” Saint-Saëns composed his first piece at age 3, and throughout his life wrote outstanding music in virtually every genre.
Please join us for the presentation of this exceptional piece in the context of the celebration and remembrance of our loved ones who have gone before.
