SHARE, Inc.
Hunger and need never take a vacation – even here in McLean. The SHARE food and clothing rooms have been very busy all summer, and thus, our stocks are becoming depleted. Summer is also the longest period between our periodic food drives because schools are closed and many organizations are not as active. Our current list of needs is extensive, but some of the more critical ones are: canned meats, canned fruit and fruit juices, sugar, flour, rice, coffee, black tea, paper products and laundry detergent. Giant and Safeway grocery certificates are also welcome.
If you are shopping for a forthcoming vacation or just a barbeque at home, please remember those who are not so fortunate and add some of these items to your cart. Donations of food and summer clothing may be left by the SHARE basket in Shears Hall, and we’ll deliver them promptly to the SHARE food and clothing rooms at McLean Baptist Church. It goes without saying that your gifts are greatly appreciated.
The SHARE Food and Clothing Rooms, the Furniture Program and the roster of volunteer drivers who take people to medical appointments will be as busy as ever. Watch the parish communications for specific needs and special programs of SHARE throughout the year.
For more information about SHARE, please contact Betsy or Harry McAlpine at 703-893-3893.
SHARE, Inc. is an all-volunteer non-profit organization of about 30 McLean-area churches, synagogues and civic groups (as well as individuals) who care about their neighbors in need.
SHARE volunteers work to meet the immediate and emergency needs of families and individuals in McLean, Great Falls and Pimmit Hills.
The organization provides food, clothing, furniture, transportation for medical and social service appointments, and selected financial assistance. It distributes food baskets during Thanksgiving and Christmas and operates a free-of-charge Christmas store at McLean Baptish Church.
