Local Outreach
St. John's Church uses its human and financial resources to support local outreach organizations including SHARE, Habitat for Humanity, Martha's Table, and the General Colin L. Powell Leadership Club at the Macfarland Middle School in Washington, D.C. where we are involved in tutoring and other projects.
Sandwich Sunday
Sandwich Sunday is usually held on the fourth Sunday of the month. Volunteers who attend the morning services prepare more than 1,000 sandwiches for Martha's Table. Learn more.
Habitat for Humanity
Crews from St. John's Church are working with Habitat for Humanity on Perry Hall, a twelve-unit three-story condominium project, located on 17th Street South in Arlington. Learn more.
SHARE
SHARE, Inc. is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1969 by individuals as well as religious and civic organizations that combined their efforts to meet emergency needs in McLean, Great Falls, Pimmit Hills, and surrounding areas. SHARE, INC. is sustained by donations of food, clothing, furniture and money, and is administered by volunteers, for a SHARING, person-to-person contact. Learn more.
Colin Powell Leadership Club
The Colin Powell Leadership Club is a vibrant part of St. John’s Church community outreach. It has operated continuously at Macfarland Middle School in Washington D.C. since 1998. The Club’s purpose is to instill enthusiasm for learning, teach leadership and responsibility, and help students set positive goals. General Colin Powell, a St. John’s parishioner, directed its creation and actively participates in the program. Learn more.
