Gifts for Life Fair
Millennium Development Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases
You can Help!
Support the 5th Annual Gifts for Life Fair - Palm Sunday, April 17
| Make a donation online via E-Giving! |
There will be three major “activity” areas:
-
Gathering around an insecticide-treated mosquito net, members of the EYC will explain why these are so vitally important to protect young children in sub-Saharan Africa, where half a millions kids five and under die from malaria every year – one every minute! Your donations will support a Diocese of Virginia “NetsforLife”program. Each net costs only $12, including training in its use.
-
In a second area, you can interact with Henry and Priscilla Ziegler, credentialed Episcopal Missionaries (he is the M.D. - she is the nurse), who run a small medical clinic in Dar-e-Salaam, that treats many HIV/AIDS and malaria patients, and provides many other types of medical services.
-
In a third area, other EYC and MDG Committee members will run a modest theme-related crafts project for young children while you are talking to the Zieglers about their clinic or to the EYCyouth about “NetsforLife.”

Outpatient care -- now seeing over 200 patients a day. When we first came, only 15-18 were being seen. The health center is open 24 hours a day.
